The story with Peter denying Jesus is very known. But I would like to look at it a bit more deeply:
Mt.26:33 Peter answered and said to Him, “Even if all are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble.”
Mt.26:34 Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”
Mt.26:35 Peter said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!”
And so said all the disciples.
So if we look at the last sentence: "And so said all the disciples." we can see, that not only he said this. But all the other disciples said the same and said, that even if they had to die with Jesus, they would not deny him.
And they all acted in the same way:
Mt.26:56Then all the disciples forsook Him and fled.
But after they fled, Peter was the only one, who had this boldness to follow Jesus and to see, what would be done to him. Although he denyed Jesus afterwards, I still think, that he was more courageous than the other disciples- and that is already a big step towards his goal.

Hm, besides Peter, there are still some womem far followe him (Mt 27.56) and care about his body even though he is dead(Mt 27.61; 28.1).
Oh yes... in my comment I only focused on the male disciples, because normaly boldness is expected from men. In this case it is true, that the female disciples were more faithful, because they followed him (of the male disciples only Peter did this) and also looked after him, when he already died. I think that in this point the female disciples were better.
i often wondered whether this applied to John also, since in John 19:25-27 John was standing near the cross of Jesus. if he ran away, he obviously returned to stand near the cross of Jesus later on.
