“36What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul”
(“und nähme an seiner Seele Schaden”)

So our soul is an important part of us on which we have to pay special attention. It is very value and much more important and needed than the whole world.
I also thought about the song “It is well with my soul”. It does not matter if this person life is accompanied with peace or when he is surrounded by sorrows, this person had learned to keep his soul feeling well. (verse1) The reason why the person can keep this state and why he at first reached this state is though Jesus who had shed his blood and through whom all the sins are nailed to the cross. Therefore his soul is well and he can praise the Lord (verses2,3) And because he took care of his soul and did not allow it to take harm he can even say that his soul is well, when the Lord is descending.
That the soul is well might be at first to be at peace with God and yourself. Having that peace allows you to live a joyful life (in Chinese it is that the soul is 安樂)
