Matthew Chapter 17

Mt.17:24 When they had come to Capernaum, those who received the temple tax came to Peter and said, “Does your Teacher not pay the temple tax?”
Mt.17:25 He said, “Yes.”

Actually Peter lied. Because if we look, what Jesus tells him we know, that Jesus - being the Son of God - didn't pay any temple tax. But still he told Peter to catch a fish and to take the money out of the mouth of the fish- just to pay the temple tax and "lest [they] offend them".
Let's also see, what Paul did in a similar situation:

Acts21:18 On the following day Paul went in with us to James, and all the elders were present.
Acts21:19 When he had greeted them, he told in detail those things which God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.
Acts21:20 And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord. And they said to him, “You see, brother, how many myriads of Jews there are who have believed, and they are all zealous for the law;
Acts21:21 but they have been informed about you that you teach all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children nor to walk according to the customs.
Acts21:22 What then? The assembly must certainly meet, for they will hear that you have come.
Acts21:23 Therefore do what we tell you: We have four men who have taken a vow.
Acts21:24 Take them and be purified with them, and pay their expenses so that they may shave their heads, and that all may know that those things of which they were informed concerning you are nothing, but that you yourself also walk orderly and keep the law.
Acts21:25 But concerning the Gentiles who believe, we have written and decided that they should observe no such thing, except that they should keep themselves from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality.
Acts21:26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day, having been purified with them, entered the temple to announce the expiration of the days of purification, at which time an offering should be made for each one of them.

Oh.. have to go to bed now.... sorry
. But I think that all of you can reflect about these two bible passages on yourselves.

Oh this article seems so long, but actually...-_-||

Ok, forgive you, because you discovered an interesting point!

I just wondered why Jesus asked Peter's opinion so actively. And it would make sense if Peter lied. I think such situation also happens to us often. Whenever we did something not good, there should also be a voice from holy spirit asking ourselves, "what do you think?" And we sould listen to it and think about it.
