Matthew Chapter 20

"30 And behold, two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!” 31 Then the multitude warned them that they should be quiet; but they cried out all the more, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!” 32 So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” 33 They said to Him, “Lord, that our eyes may be opened.” 34 So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him."

Persistence is what caused these two blind men to receive their sight despite other people's discouragements. Instead of becoming silent, here it says, "they cried out all the more". They were not affected by their surroundings, instead, they overcame their surroundings. This is because they have their "eyes" set on Jesus, their goal is set on Jesus, their hope is in Jesus. Because of that, they received the mercy that they had asked for. Perhaps in our following Jesus, we should be the same. To be persistent with God, to set our eyes and our hope in Him, trust that He will have mercy on us. That no matter who tells us to give up, we continue onward and cry out to God all the more.
