Matthew Chapter 23

Mt.23:13 “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

That's the first "woe" to the scribes and the pharisees. And I think that it is also the worst and the sadest one. For the pharisees neither go into the kingdom of heaven themselves, nor do they let others enter the heavenly kingdom. They, being the leaders of the Jewish people, have a really big responsibility. They have to bring the people on the right way (just as the kings in the old testament. But because these kings were often godless God sent prophets to bring his people back to him).
And because they have this responsibility, their punishment is also much stricter:

James3:1 My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.

sadly this is also happening in many of the Christian denominations out there. out of pride and status in their church, people who know the truth are unwilling to convert. in turn, they deceive others for their own gain. very sad and scary.
